At ATIXA, the health, safety, and well-being of our members, attendees, staff, and colleagues is of primary concern, and we are monitoring the COVID-19 situation very closely. After careful consideration and in response to the Coronavirus pandemic, ATIXA has made the decision to reconfigure all in-person events through July 31, 2020 to an online format. The trainings will now be offered virtually so attendees can still receive the training and certification as planned but without leaving home!

Registered attendees will receive a code to sign into the training via Zoom Web Conferencing Services. Sign-in will be required for both days of training between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and will be tracked for certification purposes.

All registrations for 2020 trainings include access to regularly updated electronic training materials, including the full deck of training slides, a 200-page materials packet, and our Investigation in a Box Kit — a 230-page compilation of key guidance, regulations, and resource materials, timelines, flowcharts, and other supplemental resources that your team needs to complete a thorough, reliable and impartial investigation of potential discrimination.

Attendee contact information is not required at time of registration; ATIXA will reach out 7-10 days prior to the training to collect each attendee’s name, professional title, institutional affiliation, email address, and phone number. Access to materials is delivered via email to each attendee 5 days prior to the training.

CERTIFICATION

To obtain Certification from ATIXA, you will need to attend the whole event. It is our expectation that you are present for the entire duration of your training course.

Please allow 14 business days following the completion of the course and then log-into or create an account with our Continuing Certification Credit (CCC) program system. Please follow the instructions on the webpage to obtain your certification. Our CCC program allows those certified by ATIXA to track, maintain, and extend their professional development through our programs. Learn more about our program here.

Digital Badging

ATIXA has partnered with Accredible to add digital badging to its ability to recognize and honor the 12,500 professionals who have sought certification training since 2012.

Digital badges are an increasingly popular tool for employees to denote their achievements, illustrate skill accumulation, and convey professional competence and excellence. A digital badge is an indicator of accomplishment or skill that can be displayed, accessed, and verified online. The badge includes information on who earned the badge, what the badge represents, how it was earned, when it was earned, and who issued it. Digital credentials allow employees to present a rich and trustworthy record of their professional development, easily shared on social platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook, as well as inclusion in email signatures.

Attendees of any Certification Course will now be able to expand their current options for verifying certification in a more public, visual, digital, and social, displaying badges for each certification so that colleagues, students, and potential employers can recognize your training and professional development. Attendees will receive notification following completion of the training on how to access their badge.

FACULTY

Kim Pacelli, M.Ed., J.D. is a Partner with TNG who is quite familiar with the day-to-day challenges facing colleges, universities, and schools. She provides practical advice that empowers institutions to confidently manage high-risk issues on their campuses. Her practice includes:

  • -policy and procedure development and consultation;
  • -program review, assessment, and compliance consultations; and
  • -tailored on-site training programs, among others.

She regularly trains and advises on Title IX policy and procedures, Clery Act reporting and compliance, student mental health interventions and policies, FERPA and student privacy issues, free speech issues for both public and private institutions, and student conduct issues, among others. She has also served as an invited speaker at regional and national conferences.

Kim’s solution-oriented approach to her work stems from her extensive experience as a student affairs practitioner. Kim served as Senior Associate Dean of Student Affairs at Bowdoin College, where she provided leadership, operational, budget, and personnel oversight to many central offices of the college, including the Dean’s office, Health Services, Counseling Services, Residential Life, and other student support offices.

Kim also previously served as Associate Dean of Student Life at Harvard, providing key leadership for the Harvard residential life and student life system, and as Director of Residential Life at Bowdoin. Prior to joining TNG, Kim served as an Attorney and Consultant for the private law firm Drummond Woodsum in Portland, Maine, exclusively serving colleges, universities, and schools.

Kim earned her law degree from the University of Maine School of Law, her Master’s in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and her undergraduate degree from Bowdoin College.

LOGISTICS

Time

Training is from 9:00AM to 5:00PM ET each day. You will be able to login at 8:00AM the first day to troubleshoot any technical issues. One hour will be provided for lunch. Two short breaks will be taken throughout the day.

Technical Assistance

The trainings will be conducted through Zoom. In order to actively participate in the training with polls, each attendee should download the Zoom App; however, you will still be able to view the entire training and use the chat function through any internet browser. A link specific to the training will be emailed prior to the training.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Please provide ATIXA with advance notice of any accommodation request, including parking, interpretation services, all-gender bathrooms, lactation room, etc. Specify in your correspondence the location of the training you are attending.
