All registrations for 2019 trainings include access to regularly updated electronic training materials, including the full deck of training slides and other supplemental resources that your team needs to complete a thorough, reliable and impartial investigation of potential discrimination.

Attendee contact information is not required at time of registration; ATIXA will reach out 7-10 days prior to the training to collect each attendee’s name, professional title, institutional affiliation, email address, and phone number. Access to materials is delivered via email to each attendee 5 days prior to the training.

TRIAL MEMBERSHIPS

All registrations for 2019 trainings include complimentary three-month Individual Trial Memberships for attendees who have no previous membership history with ATIXA. Active trial members have access to the full benefits of the corresponding membership level. ATIXA’s policies provide additional guidance regarding complimentary trial memberships.

FACULTY

Daniel Swinton is the President of The NCHERM Group, LLC. Daniel consults frequently with colleges, universities and K-12 on issues of Title IX, the Violence Against Women Act and sexual violence, alcohol and other drugs, behavioral intervention, bystander intervention, student conduct policies and procedures, hearing board training, mediation and legal issues in education. Daniel often serves institutions as an external investigation support provider for issues of sexual misconduct and other complex student conduct matters as well as employment concerns, retaliation and harassment. He also serves as an expert witness in cases of sexual assault, Title IX, negligence, academic integrity and civil rights. He has authored a number of peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on topics ranging from student conduct to civil rights investigations. Daniel is also a frequent presenter and invited speaker at national and regional conferences. Prior to his work with The NCHERM Group, he served as Assistant Dean and Director of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity at Vanderbilt University.

Daniel serves as Vice President of ATIXA (The Association for Title IX Administrators) and on the Advisory Board of NaBITA (National Behavioral Intervention Team Association). He has also served on the Board for the Association for Student Conduct Administration (ASCA), having served as its President in 2011-2012.

Daniel received his Bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University, his law degree (J.D.) from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU and a doctorate (Ed.D.) in higher education leadership and policy from Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College. He is a member of the Tennessee State Bar.

Time

Training is from 9:00AM to 5:00PM. Registration will begin at 8:30AM. One hour will be provided for lunch. Two short breaks will be taken throughout the day.

Your host will provide a light continental breakfast and afternoon snack break. Lunch will be on your own.

Attire is business casual with an emphasis on casual. Room temperatures may vary; layers are encouraged.

Technical Assistance

Internet access will be available upon arrival to campus. Attendees will have full access to the on-campus network and a guest password will be provided upon arrival on campus. If you wish to use a laptop to take notes, please have your computer fully charged and consider bringing a back-up battery, as there are not enough outlets in the room for individual use. Staff on-site will not be available to provide any electrical cords or technological assistance.
