ATIXA Announces New Advisory Board Members

Heather M. Kind-Keppel, Ed.D., M.S., M.Ed.

Executive Director of Equity, Education, and Outreach, Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science

Dr. Heather Kind-Keppel is the Executive Director of Equity, Education, and Outreach and Deputy Title IX Officer at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. In her role at RFUMS, Kind-Keppel is engaged in the development of training and education initiatives for students, faculty, and staff while supporting the Assistant Director of Inclusion Programs and Director of Pathway Initiatives. At RFUMS, her faculty appointment is in the Chicago Medical School, but she has also taught undergraduate courses in Ethnic Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science, and Communication. Kind-Keppel has always been passionate about actively advocating for, the creation of, and sustaining inclusive environments in higher education both in and outside of the classroom through her diversity, equity, and inclusion work. Her research and scholarship have focused on the experience of Natives in higher education and how institutions can more effectively create spaces that are Indigenous versus the continued use of education as a way to perpetuate assimilation. Kind-Keppel has also advocated throughout her career for the narratives of Natives to be infused into both curriculum and social justice initiatives. Kind-Keppel has a Doctorate in Education, a Master of Science in Counseling, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis, and a Bachelor of Arts in History. 

Elizabeth S. Lundell, J.D.

Equity Counsel/Title IX Coordinator, Boulder Valley School District

Elizabeth is a licensed attorney serving as Equity Counsel/Title IX Coordinator for Boulder Valley School District. At BVSD, she works collaboratively with District leaders to improve educational and workplace environments for the BVSD community and also co-leads a monthly discussion group comprised of Title IX Coordinators working in Colorado public school districts. Elizabeth is a graduate of BVSD public schools and a proud parent of two BVSD students. Prior to joining BVSD, Elizabeth was a trial attorney and represented school districts across Colorado. Elizabeth also works as an employment consultant, helping employers navigate complicated matters relating to the workplace environment, including issues of equity, inclusion, and risk management. She received her undergraduate degree from CU Boulder and attended law school at the Washington College of Law at American University in Washington, D.C.

Leah M. Naso, SHRM-SCP

Dean for Compliance, Training & Development, Moravian University

Leah Naso, a veteran higher education professional, serves as the Dean for Compliance, Training, and Development, including oversight of Equal Opportunity and Title IX, for Moravian University in Bethlehem, PA. Naso formerly served as Moravian’s Title IX Coordinator and Compliance Officer for six years and coordinated shared Title services across the six private colleges in the Lehigh Valley Association of Independent Colleges (LVAIC).

Prior to working directly in the Title IX field since 2016, Naso’s career has included over 20 years of experience in student affairs and higher education administration within the Lehigh Valley’s colleges and universities. Her portfolio includes extensive experience within student affairs and residence life, as well as student conduct, student leadership, career development, and consortial administration. Naso’s education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University. 

Naso has been actively involved with ATIXA since 2015 and has regularly co-facilitated ATIXA investigation courses since 2021. She joined the Advisory Board in October 2023. Naso is passionate about working in the field and describes herself as having “years of experience working with the resolution of sexual misconduct issues before Title IX existed as it does today.”
