Level Up Your Campus’ Disability Inclusivity and Accessibility
Understand compliance regulations for students and employees with disabilities, including mental health issues, website accessibility, temporary disability, and housing and dining accommodations.
Participants will engage in a variety of engaging, faculty-led applied learning exercises to ensure their understanding of academic accommodations, including those that significantly alter the curriculum. Additionally, they will learn to apply decision-making frameworks in a supportive and legally compliant manner and consider the various ways that institutions should address disability-related grievances.
Before attending this course, we recommend completing the ADA and Section 504 Foundations for Higher Education course. In addition, participants should have a basic understanding of disability law in educational settings.

Learn how to process accommodations requests equitably and provide supportive, legally compliant, and best-practice access for students and employees with disabilities. Understand nuances when requests intersect with behavioral or mental health issues or would significantly alter the academic environment.
After completing this training, participants will be able to:
- Respond to conduct issues that present for students with disabilities
- Explain the required steps for an institution to involuntarily remove a student or employee with a disability, as well as identify common compliance pitfalls and best practices
- Evaluate requests for academic accommodations, including those that would be a fundamental alteration
- Distinguish between service animals and emotional support animals
- Understand the institution’s obligations to make websites accessible
- Identify reasonable accommodations in housing and/or dining programs

To obtain certification from ATIXA, you will need to sign-in to your Event Lobby each day of training and attend the whole event. It is our expectation that you are present for the entire duration of your training course. Certification will only be provided once ATIXA has verified attendance through the Event Lobby.
Please allow 7-10 days following the completion of the course and then log in on our website and visit the My ATIXA page to access the Continuing Certification Credit (CCC) program system. Please follow the instructions on the webpage to obtain your certification. Our CCC program allows those certified by ATIXA to track, maintain, and extend their professional development through our programs.
